PICK STAGE / GUIDE

Online Wheel & Random Picker Guide

Draw names, numbers, prizes, or other entries at an event, on a stream, or in class. Follow the steps for a single screen or separate presenter and audience windows.

Set up a draw

01

Prepare the title and entries

Set a title, type an entry, then press Enter or Add. You need 2–300 entries, each 1–80 characters long. Before starting, you can edit or remove entries directly in the list.

Use bulk paste for a list separated by newlines, commas, or tabs. Append it to the existing list or replace the list entirely. Duplicate entries are not accepted; add ticket numbers to distinguish identical names. The | character cannot be used in an entry name.

A recommended template replaces the list and some settings. Check the title, entries, and exclusion rule after applying it. Use nicknames or numbers if real names should not appear publicly.

02

Set probabilities and exclusions

The default is equal chances with selected entries excluded from later rounds. Turn off exclusion to allow repeats. Templates and imported settings may use different rules, so check the displayed rule before starting.

Enable weights to assign an integer from 1 to 100 to each entry. Probability equals its weight divided by the total weight of eligible entries. With two weights of 1 and 3, the chances are 25% and 75%. Chances are recalculated as entries are excluded. Weights apply to reel, wheel, cards and lottery balls. They set the chance of each draw, without guaranteeing win counts in a small sample. Marble races ignore saved weights.

Wheel segment sizes reflect the weights. The title, list, and rules lock when the first draw starts. To change them, save any needed history as CSV and start a new draw session.

03

Five draw styles

Choose a design using the five buttons with icons and names at the top of the draw screen. The reel stops an entry at the center line. The wheel shows the segment under the top pointer. Card reveal mixes cards before revealing the result card. Draw balls shows bouncing balls in a machine before presenting the selected ball.

Use Animation on or Animation off to control the draw animation. It is on by default, and your choice is saved in this browser independently of the device’s reduced-motion setting.

During playback, the existing start button becomes Show result now. It stops the music and immediately reveals the result already selected for this round. It does not draw again, and a connected audience window switches to the same result.

Wheel, reel, cards and draw balls reveal a randomly selected result. Marble race assigns one identical marble per entry, shuffles the starting positions and simulates obstacle collisions; the first marble into the rotating winning ring in the fixed-size final arena wins. The presenter and audience replay the same simulation. Weights do not apply to marble races. Designs cannot change during a draw. The ring rotates with an open slot from the start. Course positions may have different advantages, so starting places are shuffled each race. The first entry sets the playback duration; no leader is selected at a deadline. If no marble enters within 90 simulated seconds, the race stops without recording a result.

04

Present on a single screen

Prepare the list, design, and music, then choose Stage view. Settings and history disappear so the audience can focus on the draw and result.

In Stage view, Space starts a draw or reveals its result immediately during playback, and F toggles full screen. Esc exits full screen first; press it again outside full screen to return to setup. On a phone or with a mouse, use the ⋯ menu to start, choose Show result now, enter full screen, or return.

These shortcuts apply in Stage view and do not run while an input or dialog is focused. Space cannot start a draw in the separate audience window.

05

Separate presenter and audience windows

  1. Set the entries, rules, design, and music in the setup window, then choose Open audience window. If no window appears, allow pop-ups for this site and try again.
  2. Move the new audience window to a monitor connected to the same computer. Press F in that window or double-click its stage to enter full screen.
  3. Start draws from the original presenter window. The audience window shows the draw, result, and celebration effects while hiding setup and controls. Audio plays only in the presenter window, so include that audio source in your streaming software.

Both windows must use the same browser profile. Pasting the audience address into another device or browser does not provide remote control. Keep the presenter window open. Use the celebration test before the event to check effects on the audience screen; the test does not create a draw record. The Test celebration button is beside Preview aspect ratio in the Output aspect ratio controls.

06

Landscape, portrait, and output ratio

Auto fits the window. Landscape 16:9 and Portrait 9:16 fit a frame of that ratio inside the window. Use the ratio preview to check the composition. A different monitor ratio may leave empty space around it.

For a portrait monitor, also set portrait orientation in your operating system, then move the audience window there and enter full screen. The ratio control does not rotate the physical display. A wheel is limited by the shorter screen dimension, so rotating the same monitor does not necessarily increase its diameter.

07

Music, volume, and your own files

Toggle the sound button or open Music & volume to adjust volume from 0–100%. The initial default is 100%; your device and browser volume also affect loudness. A previously saved volume takes precedence.

Choose Suspense, Cinematic, or Game show and use Preview to listen. No music keeps sound effects while disabling background music. Preview enables sound and restores the default volume if it was zero.

Choose a music file up to 20MB in a format your browser can play, such as MP3 or WAV. It stays in your browser and is not uploaded to the server. Select it again after reloading. Music files are not included in settings exports or shared links. With your own music selected, the result is revealed when the track ends, even while muted or with animation off. Choose Show result now to stop the music and reveal it immediately. Marble race ignores weights and stops music at capture regardless of its length, pauses briefly, then zooms in to reveal the winner.

08

Rounds, redraws, and results

After a draw, check the result and round number, then start the next round. With exclusion enabled, a single remaining entry is automatically recorded as the next round’s result.

Void last result and redraw keeps the last result marked as void and repeats the same round. Entries voided in that round are excluded from its redraw candidates. A redraw is unavailable when no eligible alternative remains.

Download CSV to keep the round, result, time, candidate count, rule, and status, including voided and automatic results. Restart or New draw clears current history and unlocks the same list. Save needed records before resetting.

09

Save, load, and share settings

Save settings downloads a JSON file containing the title, entries, rules, and design. Load settings restores a setup; Share settings puts the same information in a link. Draw history is not included: keep it separately as CSV. Music files, volume, and output ratio are also outside this settings export.

Anyone with a shared link can see the list. It is a copy of the setup, not a live connection to an ongoing draw. Entries and history are stored in this device’s browser by default, not on the site’s server.

Data does not automatically follow you to another device or browser and may be lost when browser data is cleared. Keep important setups and results as files.

10

Preflight checks and troubleshooting

If the draw button is disabled, check that there are at least two eligible entries and no duplicate names or invalid weights. Setup controls are unavailable during a draw. Clear rehearsal history before starting the real event.

If there is no sound, try Preview in the presenter window. Check the sound toggle, volume, muted browser tabs, and your device’s audio output. The audience window is intentionally silent.

If the audience connection drops, keep the presenter window open and reopen the audience window from there. If the draw animation is missing, check the app’s animation button and choose Animation on. Rehearse with the actual display and audio equipment before starting.
